Why Amithos Exists

The Problem

Every enterprise technology shift of the last decade has followed the same pattern: adoption outruns governance. It happened with cloud. It happened with Shadow IT. It’s happening again, faster, with AI.

Employees are already using ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and dozens of other AI tools to get their work done, often without approval, often with sensitive data. This isn’t a fringe behavior. Independent research on this problem, including the 2026 Shadow AI State of the Workplace Report, found that 98% of organizations have employees using unsanctioned AI tools, and the average breach involving Shadow AI costs $4.63 million.

Why Amithos Exists

Most security tools were built to watch email, file transfers, and known cloud applications. None of them were built to watch the moment an employee pastes a paragraph of customer data into a browser tab and hits enter on an AI chat.

That gap, the last mile between an employee’s intent to move fast and the sensitive data leaving the organization, is why Amithos exists. We built EverShade specifically to close it: protection that operates at the exact point of AI interaction, without asking employees to change how they work or asking security teams to choose between productivity and control.

You Shouldn’t Have to Choose Between Privacy and Productivity

Most organizations approach AI the same way they approached every risky new technology before it: lock it down first, figure out productivity later. That instinct is understandable and it doesn’t work. Employees who lose access to AI tools don’t stop wanting to use them, they just start using personal accounts on personal devices, where there’s no visibility at all. The organization ends up with all of the risk and none of the productivity gain.

We think that’s the wrong tradeoff to force anyone into. The goal isn’t to slow people down until it’s safe. It’s to make it safe at the speed people already want to move. Employees should be able to use the AI tools that make them faster and better at their jobs. Security and compliance teams should be able to trust that sensitive data isn’t leaving the building because of it. Both things can be true at once, and that’s the specific problem EverShade is built to solve.

What We Build

EverShade is browser-based AI data protection. Why Now

Three things are converging at once. AI adoption inside organizations is accelerating faster than governance can keep up. Regulatory deadlines are no longer theoretical: the EU AI Act became fully enforceable in August 2026, and the SEC’s cybersecurity disclosure rules have already been triggered by a Shadow AI incident. And the managed service providers who advise most small and mid-sized businesses are actively looking for a way to turn this risk into a real, recurring part of their service offering.

How We Operate
